An original watercolor and willow charcoal drawing by well-listed Danish-American artist Jens Jensen (Ohio/Denmark; 1895-1978). This abstract work depicts amorphous shapes outlined in black, and filled in with warm neutral tones of rust, goldenrod, and browns mixed with touches of cool blues and greens. Signed in charcoal to the lower right, this work is mounted beneath dual layers of coordinating mats and is presented behind non-glare glass in a beveled wood frame with a natural finish and hanging wire present to verso.
Jensen joined the famous Rookwood Pottery company of Cincinnati upon moving to the United States in 1927, and was best known as the being the company’s Modernist. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Riverside Museum of New York, and in numerous private collections as well.
Condition
- artwork is dry-mounted to card stock ground. Water damage present to lower margin of matting. Wear present to finish of frame.
