Timothy Ottochie Signed Limited Edition Cape Dorset Stonecut Print

A signed limited edition stonecut on paper by contemporary Canadian Inuit folk artist Timothy Ottochie (1904-1982), titled Untitled, 1962 (#59). This unique printing method is used specifically by the Cape Dorset school of Canadian artists, and are created by carving out a flat stone block. The piece is then printed in relief, much like a linocut or woodblock. This print depicts a collage of figures and animals drawn in a playful naivete style and printed in deep black ink. The print is signed and numbered 23/50 in pencil to the lower corners. It is matted in white and presented behind glass in a thin wooden frame with black and gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
