Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian wool Ardebil area rug featuring large octagonal hooked medallions to the center woven in mauve, light and navy blue, sage green and cream colors. The medallions are flanked by dragon forms and symbolic motifs, with figural horsemen and hooked guls on an ivory field. The primary border features a repeating flower box pattern in similar colors, featuring alternating foliate and figural bird elements. The rug is finished with double overcast edges and cotton warp fringe at either end, and is tagged to the reverse with ‘Design Ardebil, Size 3-6 × 5-5, Origin Iran’.
