An original watercolor painting on rough rag paper by well-listed American artist Robert Fabe (Cincinnati, Ohio; 1914–2004). The image depicts a cityscape of Fabe’s hometown of Cincinnati, the deserted streets filled with Italienette architecture; a gothic church rises in the distance. An ominous gray sky fills the sky above three unsupervised children who play together in the foreground, typical of Fabe’s melancholy oeuvre. The painting is signed to the lower right, double-matted in dark brown and white, and presented behind glass in a brushed metal silver tone frame. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- light discoloration to mats. Finish of frame is scratched throughout.
