Collection of Ricardo Morin Pastel Sketches on Paper

Item Details

Pastel on paper

A collection of three pastel sketches on paper by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela/New York; b. 1954), dated 2003. The pieces depict abstract scenes with a burnt sienna red. The variety of shapes and lines visually reference later works by the artist in his Triangulation and Metaphores of Silence series. To the lower right, the items are signed and dated by the artist in pastel. All are presented as loose works without frames.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that often exhibit a combination of linear delineation and spontaneous fluidity.
