Ricardo Morin Mixed Media "Newsprint Series Nº 2"
Item Details
A complete collection of eight ink, white-out, and blotted oil paintings on newsprint from the series titled Newsprint Series Nº 2 by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela / New York; b. 1954), circa 2006. The pieces depict an abstract scene with intertwined non-representational forms overlapped in varied tonalities by a black and white outlined scalene triangle situated diagonally to the center of the composition within a visible newsprint background, generating a contrasting balance between organic, geometrical shapes and characters. The work is unsigned by the artist and presented as a group. Presented as loose sheets without frames.
Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
