An oil painting on linen titled Triangulation Series No. 28 by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela/New York; b. 1954), dated 2008. The work depicts an abstract scene with blues, violets, and peach colors. A red triangle points to the right side of the piece. To the verso, the title, artist’s signature, medium, and year are present in black ink. While there is no hanging wire attached to the item, a pair of d-rings are present for hanging.
Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that often exhibit a combination of linear delineation and spontaneous fluidity.
