An original oil painting on board by listed American genre painter John Leone (New York, 1929 – 2011). The painting depicts a line of hunters on horseback making their way through a series of snowy mountain peaks. Soft blue shadows fall across the pristine white scene, adding dimension and texture. The painting is signed in red to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden frame with white linen lining and a hanging wire. Leone painted from photographs and drawings created in the Catskill Mountains, often painting using the traditional techniques of the Old Masters. - large creased bend to upper edge of board. Scuffing and scratching across. Large area of brown accretion to left edge. Scratching to frame.
