Vintage Watchtower Vertical Phonograph
Item Details
A vintage Watchtower vertical portable phonograph, designed to be used by the Jehovah’s Witnesses to play sermons. The phonograph plays 78 rpm records has a steel needle, recommended to be changed after two-three plays, wood housing and a Bakelite handle that is also the crank. The front has a slide that opens and closes the speaker. The side opens and has two compartments; perhaps for literature, supplies or snacks. On the same side is the switch that turns the bar the needle is on to play the record. The interior lid has a partial label with a serial number of 1576 V and is noted on the label 1-29-1942.
