A mixed media collage by Tom Levine. Comprised of four blue boxes with printed interiors and hand painted embellishments, intertwined with metal wire and string inserted within the surface. The piece depicts elements of a Matisse painting that has been manipulated and collaged with paint, wire, and string. This work is presented behind acrylic glass, on a white floating mat and housed in a recessed wooden frame with an off-white undertone.
Levine was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has painted since a young boy. His abstract and figural work can be found in museum collections, as well as numerous corporate collections. Levine received a BA in English and Business from Miami University, a Master’s in Psychology and Communications from The University of Denver, and an M.F.A. in Art History from the University of Cincinnati.
