A mixed media on newspaper by Israeli artist Moshe Kupferman (1926 – 2003), circa 1992. This monochromatic piece depicts vertical lines intersected by a pair of subtle horizontal lines in dark and light tones. Rendered within variations of gray tonalities and letters visible through the lightest areas of the composition. Constructed with applications of gouache, graphite, and other material, emphasizing in the human perception of light and shadow. The work is signed and dated by the artist in graphite to the lower right corner. Presented behind glass, laid on a gray floating mat, and housed in a simple silver tone frame. A framer’s label and wire affixed to the verso and this piece comes ready to hang.
