A limited edition etching on rice paper by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), titled Sculpteur Devant sa Sculpture (Sculptor in Front of His Sculpture) published by Ambroise Vollard (1866-1939) in 1931. Depicted is a sculptor in front of his sculpture, with a young lady by his side, and a sculptural bust in the bottom left. No signature, number, or title was found on this work. A document from Raymond & Raymond of Hartford Art Galleries present to the verso includes information about the work in English and French. As stated in a document to the verso from this limited edition is 1 of 65 copies published by the Parisian art dealer. A label is attached to the verso from the Duveneck House, Inc. This work of art is presented under glass in a wood frame with carved scroll design.
The original work by Picasso was created in 1927 and is from a series that Vollard asked Picasso to create as the illustrations for Honoré de Balzac’s short story Le Chef-d’œuvre inconnu, which Vollard later published in 1931.
