A mixed media sketchbook drawing on paper titled 4.VIII.07 by renowned contemporary artist Tom Levine (American, b. 1945), dated 2007. The medium is comprised of graphite, black string, charcoal, and oil pastel with collage materials. Depicted is a gray space with three sections in white, blue, and orange. Underneath is a single green bar. To the lower left corner, the work is titled and marked ‘Antibes’ in pencil; to the lower right, the piece is signed in pencil by the artist. Under UV protective plexiglass, the item is presented in a floating frame. Framer’s and gallery labels are affixed to the verso.
Levine was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has painted since a young boy. His abstract and figural work can be found in museum collections, as well as numerous corporate collections. Levine received a BA in English and Business from Miami University, a Master’s in Psychology and Communications from The University of Denver, and an M.F.A. in Art History from the University of Cincinnati.
