Edward Moran Oil on Canvas Seascape

An oil on canvas of a seascape by well-listed Pennsylvania-based artist Edward Moran (1829-1901). This work features a seascape at night with ships floating on the moonlit water and a lighthouse visible in the distant left background. The work is signed in orange to the lower left. Presented in a gold-tone wood frame with floral reliefs, it is ready to hang with picture wire to the verso. A label from Forsythe Auctions is also adhered to the verso. Moran was known for his seascapes and his work has been collected by multiple institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among others.
