Four Vintage Chinese Black Lacquered Wood & Soapstone Wall Panels

A set of four vintage hand-detailed Chinese black lacquered wood and soapstone wall panels. Each panel is black lacquer with applied mother-of-pearl and soapstone figures and architectural elements and hand-painted gold and silver detailing. The panels feature the Sanxing deities and several attendants wearing elaborate robes in an elegant landscape. Many of the figures are holding large peaches, a popular symbol of longevity. Two of the panels have the corner roofs of a pavilion. Faces and other details are beautifully hand-painted while the mother-of-pearl and soapstone insets are exquisitely handcrafted. All of the panels are signed to the back in Chinese writing. Each panel has a metal hanging hook with a Chinese design to the top with hand-painted detailing to the frames.
Condition
- some of the paint, especially the gold, has some wear.
