M.C. Escher Offset Lithograph "Rippled Surface"
Item Details
An offset lithograph after the original 1950 linoblock print by famed graphic artist M.C. Escher (1898-1972) titled Rippled Surface. Escher is well-known for his optical illiusions, tesselations, and creations of images that seem impossible. This image, created in 1950, depicts the reflection of silhouetted, leafless trees with a full moon hanging behind them in the surface of a small pool, recently disturbed as evidenced by the ripples in the water. Initialed and dated in plate to upper left, this print is mounted beneath dual layers of coordinating mats and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with black finish and silver-toned accent border with hanging wire present to verso.
