A large hand knotted Heriz Serapi wool area rug. This large rug features a central lozenge in carnelian red and dark indigo blue with a star pendant medallion surrounded by rectilinear vine and foliate elements. It is designed with saturated colors, with accent tones in camel, cream, navy, cornflower blue, mustard and salmon. It has large, bright white corner spandrels with echoing patterns in the same palette, with a wide primary border having samovar elements flanked by serrated leaves and stylized rosettes. It has a wool warp fringe to either end, and is unmarked.
