Occupied Japan Dragon Tea Set

A hand decorated and glazed Occupied Japan tea set, circa 1950. This set includes ten plates in two different sizes, six teacups, one sugar bowl, one creamer, one lidded teapot with lid, and two condiment cups. Each piece is hand decorated with applied slip detail in a deep grey and white, with a dimensional, textured dragon motif in intricate detail, having hand-applied gold enamel embellishment. The cups have a lusterware liner glaze to the inside, and most are marked ‘Fairyland China, Made in Occupied Japan’ or ‘Made in Japan.’
Condition
- scuffs; wear to gilt.
