Vintage Schoolhouse Diorama

Item Details

A vintage schoolhouse diorama, in shadowbox frame. The framed door is hinged at top with two brass latches to bottom. The interior features a one-room school house, complete with nine student desks and one teachers desk; a figure of a teacher and five students (one male and four female); a cast iron stove; a hanging wall map; chalkboard; a globe on a stool; an apple on the teachers desk with an antique style foot warmer on the floor. Also includes a coat rack with children’s coats and a wall clock. The children are wearing cotton and hand-crocheted clothing. There is a ‘dunce’ cap on a stool in the corner. Circa 1940s.

Condition

- to fair, has a crack to one glass panel. the ceiling panel is electrified with a switch on case, not currently illuminating.
