Antique "American" Sewing Machine and Table

An antique American Sewing Machine Company treadle sewing machine and work table with a wooden machine cover. The circa 1890 painted black steel machine and wooden cover are decorated in gold tone trim depicting the ‘American’ logo. The wood rectangular cabinet has a drop leaf work surface. There are locking decoratively carved side drawers with original brass ‘American’ drawer pulls. The drawers contain original parts and attachments for the machine. A hidden swiveling drawer behind the apron contains the original drawer and cover key. The sewing table features two side storage drawers and a cast iron treadle base with the ‘American’ logo.

Condition

- complete with all original hardware and accessories; mechanism and pedal in functioning order; includes original key, small chip on veneer of drop leaf; surface scratches consistent with use and age.
