Japanese Satsuma Lidded Urn

A beautiful Japanese Satsuma ware lidded urn. This urn features a lid with a floral shaped handle and heart cutouts in the top. The body of the urn features a delicately painted village scene of people offering items to a visiting dignitary. A second panel depicts a lovely songbird perched among flowering peonies and cherry blossoms, rendered with equal sensitivity. The base of the urn features three feet that curve up to meet the body of the urn and is unmarked .

Condition

- small chips in flower on the lid; repaired break in the rim; the glaze is cracked throughout; Cracks and chips are present on the base.
