Heinie Hartwig Original Oil Painting on Board
Item Details
An original oil painting on board by listed Californian Western genre painter Heinie Hartwig (born 1937). The masterful painting depicts the sun setting over an expansive Western field as it casts rows of pink, blue, and yellow clouds across the massive sky. A trio of teepees stand in the foreground, cast in the pale orange light of the glowing orb in the distance. The painting is signed in-wet-paint to the lower left. It is presented in a composite frame with brushed gold tone finish and a hanging wire. According to a note on the verso, the painting was created in the style of very well-known 19th century American painter George Catlin (1796 – 1872). A biography of Hartwig is attached to the verso, and more information can be found below under Additional Information.
