Antique Oil on Canvas in the Style of Harold Rudolph

An original late-19th century oil painting on canvas. The painting is noted ‘Rudolf – New Orleans’ to the verso, and is painted in the style of very well-listed New Orleans artist Harold Rudolph (1850 – 1883/1884). The mysterious painting depicts a woman walking through a forest under a cloak of deep nightfall. The only thing that lights her way is a bright full moon which glows brilliantly in the distance. The painting is unsigned. It is presented in a wooden frame with ornate cast embellishments and gold-tone finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- several large rips and holes have been patched from verso and inpainted. Canvas is warped across, and has creases from stretcher bars. Frame has cracking.
