A hand knotted Anatolian wool rug. The tribal type rug was made in a village using wool for both warp and weft. The field is a faded tomato red populated by two lozenges in off white framed in blue. The interiors of the lozenges are filled with foliate designs in red. The stepped spandrels are faded blue with stylized foliate designs.The guard borders feature a linear design linked by small floral motifs. The main border has stylized flowers with angular leaves in pale green, rust, red, and blue. It has a loose weave and short wool warp fringe to each end.
