An oil painting on canvas panel of a coastal seascape by S. McCarthy, Jr. and dated 1981. This scene features waves violently crashing against coastal rock formations. Seagulls and other birds fly in a stormy sky with dark blue clouds, and light breaks through at the top of the picture plane. The uses vibrant colors, applied heavily in some areas which adds texture to the waves. The work is signed and dated to the lower right. The artist’s monogram is also written to the lower left. A white border is painted around the subject and the overall work is displayed in a wood frame.
