A collection of antique children’s books. This collection of seven books features the illustrated animal fiction books Under the Dog Star and Holidays at Home by Margaret Vandegrift (Philadelphia: Porter & Coates, 1881–82), both of which are brown clothbound quarto hardcovers with gilt pages and extensive gilt cover decoration. This collection also includes Camping for Boys by H. W. Gibson (New York: Association Press, 1911), copyrighted by the International Committee of Young Men’s Christian Associations; Ernest Thompson Seton’s Wild Animals I Have Known, and 200 Drawings (New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1898); and more.
Condition
- to fair; some binding separation on Holidays at Home; front hinge wear on Wild Animals I Have Known; significant cover discoloration to Happy Hours; page discoloration to The Daisy’s Mission and Wild Animals I Have Known; some handwritten inscriptions contemporary with books; general cover wear consistent with age and use.
