Unique Vintage Prison Art "Kool" Cigarette Pack Purse
Item Details
A truly unique vintage (1940-50) purse made by an incarcerated prisoner from woven ‘Kool’ cigarette packages. The plastic green and white packages are folded and woven, like origami, to create a purse with a fold over flap and a short handle. This type of prison art was popular from the 1930’s through the 60’s and the items were made by the prisoners as gifts for their girlfriends and wives. The way the packages were folded creates an amazing pattern and the purse is actually very sturdy and usable. A unique piece of wearable art to say the least and highly collectible.
