"Consommé (Beef) 52" Serigraph after Andy Warhol

Item Details

An unframed serigraph on wove paper published by Sunday B. Morning after the original 1968 serigraph by incredibly well-listed Pop-Modernist artist Andy Warhol (New York; 1928 – 1987), titled Consommé (Beef) 52, from Warhol’s series Campbell’s Soup I. The image depicts a giant can of said soup, and was originally exhibited as part of a larger installation in which Warhol displayed a regiment of various Campbell’s soup serigraphs in rows stacked on top of one another, as if they were on shelves in a grocery store. The concept of repetition was important in much of Warhol’s work, as he saw it as something that desensitized and separated the viewer from the object being represented, cheapening emotions felt toward the object, leaving behind just the image. This piece is unframed, protected by a piece of clear acetate.
