A large Chinese tessellated bone elephant sculpture on a lacquered base. This hand carved elephant sculpture is made of segments shaped to fit like a mosaic. The figure stands on a black lacquered platform base and is late 20th century. Throughout time, elephants have come to symbolize many things including dignity, good fortune, good luck, intelligence, longevity, strength, and wisdom. Pairs nicely with item 16CIN428-467 of this sale. Marked Made in China.
