Item Details

A Chippendale style broken arch pediment walnut tallboy chest on chest. Features a broken pediment finished with foliate medallions and an elaborate Rococo style carved center finial and two matched turned finials to each side. The pediment features vine, scrolled and foliate detailing in relief to the front. This style of detailing is repeated to the bottom front apron of the piece. The top cabinet features incised columnar style detailing to the sides and eight drawers each finished with brass batwing cutout bails and pulls. The bottom section cabinet features a long top drawer finished with brass batwing bails and pulls and center escutcheon. This drawer rests above three drawers, a pair finished with a brass batwing cutout bail and pull and a larger center drawer with vine and seashell detailing in relief and a small round brass pull. The piece rests on four cabriole legs with acanthus leaf carving and the shoulders and claw and ball feet. The drawers all feature machine cut dovetail joinery.
