Antique Scandinavian Pine Pantry Box

Item Details

A nineteenth-century oval pantry box. The piece is produced of pine with iron bands and reinforcements. These bentwood boxes were produced in many countries and were often used to protect foodstuffs from vermin. This box has construction techniques consistent with Scandinavian countries.

Condition

- weathering to wood and metal, splitting and possibly missing lock.
