1970s Original "Granny" Cartoon for Playboy by Buck Brown

Item Details

An original c. 1970 ‘Granny’ acrylic cartoon illustration on board by listed artist Buck Brown (American, 1936 – 2007). The painting, one of Buck’s famously risqué Granny cartoons, which first appeared in Playboy in 1962, shows Granny, iconically nude with ridiculous pendulous breasts, wire-rimmed glasses patterned knee-high socks and high heels, approaching a portly man dressed in green vested suit, while holding a book entitled My Painting Made Easy. The illustration is displayed under glass with black surround, light cream matte and dark wood frame. The frame is wired to the back.
Buck Brown was known as an illustrator and cartoonist, best known for his ‘soul genre paintings’ and risqué cartoons for Playboy magazine.
