A Karastan Persian medallion rug. This power loomed wool rug features a palette of reds, salmon, ocher, cream, celadon, and lapis lazuli, with a curvilinear central medallion and a field woven with images of horses, riders, and deer over a salmon background. The main border features a resolved motif of angels over red, while the guard border has a herati pattern. The rug has tan fringe at either end. Marked ‘Karastan Persian Hunting Rug #723.’ A nearly identical rug is listed in this sale in lot 16NAS165-203.
