James O'Neil Original Acrylic on Panel "Working the Tides"

Item Details

An original acrylic painting on canvas mounted to composite board by well-listed American Impressionist painter James O’Neil (Massachusetts; born 1954), titled Working the Tides, circa 1980. The image depicts an arresting view of a clear, lucid scene on a seaside hill top, as a mature, working man walks along a worn path to his clapboard oceanic cottage, carrying baskets of fresh oysters, the sea blurring on the salty atmospheric horizon. Artist signature is signed in paint to the lower right. The painting is mounted behind a neutral linen liner with white fillet in a beveled wood frame with a speckled gilt finish. The verso is marked with title and signature. A label from Miller Gallery of Cincinnati, Ohio is attached to the verso. This piece is accompanied by a bill of sale from previous owner, O’Neil’s artist statement, and artist bio enclosed in an envelope that will be provided to the winning bidder. O’Neil’s work is represented in the collections of numerous prestigious institutions, including the DeCordova Museum; Massachusetts College of Art; Boston Five Cents Bank; and the Midland Corporation, among others.
