An original oil on canvas painting by listed artist Gerald Ellis (Europe, 1920 – 1998). The artist has rendered a pair of jockeys racing down the track at break neck speeds in a style that reflects the work of De Kooning. The painting is entitled L’Arrivee, and is filled with energetic impasto brushwork and a complete disregard for representational color throughout. The painting is signed to the bottom right hand corner, and titled to the verso. Presented in a beautiful wooden frame with doubled gold borders and a canvas border in between.

Condition

Good-fair, some paint loss to frame.
