A five volume collection of antique and vintage children’s books including one first edition. Featured is the first edition book entitled Raggedy Ann Stories written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle (M.A. Donohue & Company, New York, 1918). Gruelle was the creator of the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and the author of many books detailing their escapades. This volume contains delightful color illustrations of Raggedy Ann throughout the text and pictorial front and back endpapers featuring both Ann and Andy. Also included is the antiquarian edition of The Story of Robin Hood and His Merry-Men with illustrations by G.A. Davis (McLoughlin Brothers, New York, 1905). The frontispiece is a color illustration of Robin Hood with additional pen drawings throughout the text. Encased in a slipcase is the Illustrated Junior Library edition of The Adventures of Pinocchio by C. Collodi (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1946). Additional titles are The Story of the Christmas Tree (1944) and Maeterlinck’s The Children’s Blue Bird (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1939). Great additions to a child’s library.

Condition

Condition ranges from good to fair consistent with age. Inscriptions on front endpapers, foxing, and wear to the edges is evident. One volume has a broken front hinge.
