James Meger and Paco Young Signed Prints of Winter Scenes

A pair of signed offset lithograph prints, both depicting ground-dwelling birds amid winter scenery. One image depicts a group of pheasants gathered around the piled ears of maize where a picket fence corncrib has partially fallen down. The work is by listed artist James Meger (1942 – 2011). This print is headed ‘Published in 1997 through a grant from Miller Brewing Company,’ is marked ‘Meger © ’97’ in plate, and is signed by hand in gold tone, ‘James Meger, Hors Commerce, ’Thanks Be Given’ – Suburban City…‘. The other print in this collection depicts two grouse leaving footprints in deep snow beside the snow-covered lower boughs of a spruce tree; a few bare stalks with sparse red berries grow beside the tree by listed Minnesota artist Paco Young (1958 – 2005). This print is captioned ’Winter Pair – Ruffed Grouse, by Paco Young,’ is signed in plate to the lower right, and is signed and numbered ‘2214/3000’ in pencil in the margin. Both prints are matted under glass in wood frames with hanging wires attached.
Condition
- pheasant print is loose in frame and has shifted; grouse print has some scuffing, tape and residue to frame.
