A Papua New Guinea ceremonial or fighting Axe from the Southern Highlands Tungei people of Papua New Guinea with a polished stone blade to one side and a decorative cane body mounted on a tapered wood handle.These stone axes were originally made and used as trade items or for ceremonial dances. A picture of this style of axe appears on the two Kina bank notes from Papua New Guinea.
