An original Mexican amate painting. This painting is created on amate, a wood bark paper that has been in use in Mexican artwork and culture as far back as 75 CE. The image in the painting depicts a brightly colored, dual-handled vase overflowing with long, green stalks that end in white, blue, and pink flowers. Four birds are present in the work, fluttering around the foliage. Flowers and an amorphous yellow portion form the borders of the work, which is unsigned by the artist. The painting is mounted on a woven background and is presented behind non-glare glass in a wooden frame with natural finish. Hanging wire present to verso.
