Art Nouveau Painted Tin Fire Screen
Item Details
An Art Nouveau painted tin fire screen, worked in a leaded glass style. This unique screen is designed with a lobed top to the center panel, and wing-shaped hinged side panels, each framed in a bronze tone metal with decorative borders. The center panel features a central medallion illustrating a scene with a castle on a promontory overlooking a lake, done in the manner of a stained glass window with raised ‘lead’ borders to the subtle shades of the piece. The medallion is framed in an iconic Art Nouveau style with sinuous leaf forms in green and aubergine, which are repeated on the side wing panels. The fire screen has a curvilinear form to the center panel’s base.
