Monumental Chinese Cloisonné Covered Censer

Item Details

A monumental Chinese cloisonné covered censer. Standing over two feet tall, the censer features a domed lid with round handle at the top held to the lid with dragon head accents. The shape is after a ding (鼎), an archaic ritual vessel. Two rectangular handles flank the censer on either side. The censer stands on three legs below. The censer is embellished with cloisonné enamel designs with images of archaic taotie motifs, birds, geometric patterns, and stylized animals throughout. The piece is unmarked.

Condition

There is some chipping to the underside of the round handle at the top.
