Vintage Chinese Liquor Cabinet with Soapstone Inlay

Item Details

A vintage Chinese hardwood liquor cabinet with soapstone inlay. Unmarked, the cabinet features a hinged top that opens to reveal a soapstone inlay scene of a man standing next to a large peach to the top’s underside. Two folding table top extensions are located just under the cabinet’s hinged top. Two cabinet doors with carved wooden peapod handles are located at the front of the cabinet. The doors feature soapstone inlay panels with images of children playing and couples strolling outside. When opened, the front cabinets feature interior shelving and drawers. The cabinet also has cabinet space at the corners designed to hold stemware, as well as cabinet space on the sides with additional shelving and drawers. The entire cabinet stands on lion’s paw feet below. A note accompanying the cabinet states the piece was purchased during the 1940s in Panama.

Condition

Signs of chipping to the soaptstone. Some of the soapstone pieces are missing. Signs of minor scratches. Minor age appropriate wear.
