Item Details

An antique late 19th-century photogravure after a conté drawing by artist Carl Hutter, signed in plate to lower right and dated 1878. The image depicts Christ as a baby, in his mother Mary’s arms as she sits on a boulder, his father Joseph looking over them, and an angel kneeling before the child, playing a stringed instrument. The image is mounted behind hand-rolled antique glass in an antique circular wood frame with a cast applique outer border. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.

. – condition consistent with age. Discoloration across print. Applique on frame is chipped in several areas with loss throughout.
