A offset lithograph after a painting by Paul Detlefsen titled ‘The Red Caboose’. The print depicts a train receding through a desert landscape leaving a plume of smoke against a sunset sky. As the last car in the train, the red caboose, is prominent in the foreground. Paul Detlefsen (1899 – 1986) was a commercial artist who worked in the movie industry and who also created nostalgic paintings of rural America that were often used in calendars. The print is mounted without glass in a shaped natural finish wood frame wired for hanging. It is signed in the plate and includes a brass name plate on the frame.
