Pair of Vintage Hand Carved Heinzeller Wood Hand Figurines
Item Details
A pair of German, hand carved wooden figurine statues of a left and right hand from the German town of Oberammergau. These carvings were done by the Hans & Adolf Heinzeller workshop, circa 1960’s. They show two hands stretched out in a soft, relaxed gesture, possibly a monk’s hands in a posture of worship. The German town of Oberammergau is famous for its centuries long tradition of excellent wood carvings, dating back to the Middle Ages, where monk’s carved statues and figures of religious figures. These two carvings have a wood and metal base, one incised with ‘Heinzeller’ and the other with ‘Oberammergau’.
