Item Details

An 18th century cherry stained pine New England blanket chest. The hinged top with applied molded edge opens to reveal a deep unfinished compartment above two lower dovetailed drawers with early Chippendale batwing form brasses. The whole with an early red painted finish with square nails and beveled back-board resting on a shaped bracket base. The chest was acquired in Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1971.
