Jan Evert Morel (Dutch 1835-1905) Oil on Panel Landscape
Item Details
An original oil on panel landscape painting by Jan Evert Morel (Dutch 1835-1905). The finely detailed wooded landscape painting illustrates a family of three resting beneath a large tree at the edge of a stream that meanders through the composition. A light source from the left beautifully illuminated the trunks of the trees and filters sunlight. The painting is signed ‘J.E. Morel Fit’ (the first) in the lower left and is framed in seemingly the original frame which is carved gesso over wood in a gold finish. The brass placque affixed to the center of the frame states ‘J.E. Morel, London’.
Jan Evert Morel was born in Amsterdam and is known for painting small, intimate wooded landscapes on panel.
Condition
The painting has been stored, it is clean and the frame (which is of the period) is also in very good condition.
