1972 Gyojin Murakami Signed Limited Edition Woodblock Print

A signed, limited edition 1972 sōsaku-hanga woodblock print on handmade paper by contemporary Japanese artist Gyojin Murakami (村上暁人, 1911-1998). The print is titled Annual Tree Rings of the Sea (海の年輪 Umi no Nenrin). This work depicts a seated elderly man in the middle of lighting his pipe with his red tobacco pouch hanging on his finger. The print is signed and dated in the lower left, alongside the title in Japanese. It is numbered 36/100 in the lower right. The work is presented in a wood frame with tan matting and is ready to hang with picture wire to the verso. Stickers with information about the framing company and previous owner are adhered to the back as well.
