Set of Louis XVI Style Partial Gilt Chairs

Item Details

A set of Louis XVI style partial gilt chairs consisting of two arm and two side chairs. The late 19th/early 20th century chairs feature a painted white-sage finished square back with an arched crest framed by flattened and inverted foliate carved bell shaped finials with gilded foliate egg and dart detail to the edge. The whole resting on ringed round and tapered legs with carved rosette blocks with gilded detail to the apron on the front of the chairs. The arm chairs with upholstered manchettes or rests with foliate carved arms and arched guilloche carved arm supports with gilded foliate detail. The chairs have Aubusson petit point upholstery depicting overblown florals in tones of rose, sage and gold on a ivory panel set within a scrolled golden border with foliate swags contained on a Rose du Berry toned field. The backs of the chairs are open with a solid Rose du Berry toned upholstery. This lot coordinates with 16BOS068-044.
