Lowell Naeve Original Limited Edition Woodcut "The Sea"

An original signed limited edition woodblock print by listed American artist and activist Lowell Naeve (Virginia/Canada, 1917 – 1914), titled The Sea. The print depicts abstracted layers of bright ink with geometric cut out forms that at the lower half of the image seem to depict waves. The print is signed and numbered 18 from an edition of 100 in pencil to the lower margin. The print is matted in white and wrapped in acetate for safe keeping. Naeve traveled and studied art across the United States, eventually becoming interested in the meeting points of art and activism. He was imprisoned for a year as conscientious objector, during which time he created his best-known work, a visual novel titled Phantasies of a Prisoner.
